STS Symposium: Uncertainty

The Science, Technology, and Society program at South Dakota Mines will be holding a two-day STS symposium in Rapid City, SD, on October 8-9, 2027. To coincide with the 100-year anniversary of Werner Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, the symposium addresses the theme of uncertainty.

The symposium will feature traditional academic presentations as well as zines on the theme of uncertainty, and it will coincide with a show in the Apex Gallery (the art gallery on campus) featuring work by Jason Kofke.

For more information, check out the links below:

  • Call for proposals (deadline: February 1, 2027)
  • Call for zines (proposals due by March 1, 2027; final zines due by September 1, 2027)

More details about travel, accommodations, events, and presenters will be posted closer to the symposium itself.
